The Industry Forum 2014, which was organised by NATO ACT (the Allied Command Transformation) in the biggest Croatian Adriatic city of Split on Thursday, brought together executives of some 400 companies from the defence industry in the world and Croatian officials.
There is no condition for educational, cultural and other development of a society and a state without their security. Also, economic and social developments are required for creating condition for sustainable development of the defence and security system of each country, Josipovic said in his video message adding that security and development go hand in hand..
Citing crises in various parts of the world, terrorist threats and arms smuggling as serious threats to security and stability of countries, Josipovic called for maintenance and development of the capability of NATO member-states.
"Democracy, civil and human rights and freedoms and the rule of law are lasting values for which the Alliance exists and which are embraced and promoted inside and outside the alliance," the Croatian head of state said.
Some of the prominent participants in the Split forum were NATO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Alexander Vershbow and General Jean-Paul Palomeros, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.
NATO ACT is responsible for the planning and delivery of NATO education and training programmes using NATO national facilities.
