Croatia's seasonally adjusted industrial production jumped by 4.6% in September 2014 in relation to the previous month, when it fell by 4.1%.
In the 28-member EU, industrial production in September increased by 0.6%, after a 1.2% decline in August. Among countries with considerable production output increases were the Czech Republic (+4.5%) and Ireland (+4.1%). The largest decreases were recorded in Denmark (-5.6%) and Portugal (-4.1%).
"In the EU28, the increase of 0.6% is due to production of capital goods rising by 2.4% and energy by 0.3%, while intermediate goods fell by 0.4%, non-durable consumer goods by 0.9% and durable consumer goods by 1.7%," Eurostat said.
Year on year, industrial production in the EU28 in September also rose by 0.6%, which was "due to production of capital goods rising by 2.1%, non-durable consumer goods by 1.2% and intermediate goods by 0.5%, while durable consumer goods fell by 0.7% and energy by 2.2%," Eurostat said. The highest increases in industrial production were registered in Ireland (+22.1%), the Czech Republic (+5.6%) and Hungary (+5.1%), and the largest decreases in Malta (-7.4%), Sweden (-4.1%) and Greece (-3.5%).
Croatia recorded a considerable rise in industrial output of 3.8% in September 2014 compared with September 2013, as against a year-on-year drop of 4.7% in August 2014.
In the 18-member euro area, industrial production rose at the same rate, both on the monthly and annual levels, as in the EU28. The increase of 0.6% in industrial production in the euro area in September was due to production of capital goods rising by 2.9% month on month and by 2% year on year.
