ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - Croatia's Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED) has been given the best ratings for its practice in the European Union within a programme of evaluating the performance of regulatory authorities in the European Union and European Economic Area (EEA) that are responsible for human medicines.

The programme of evaluation of how drug agencies do their business was conducted by an international group called Heads of Medicines Agencies.

Evaluators from France, Great Britain and Germany visited HALMED on October 21-24 to analyse the Croatian agency's business operations and documents.

They gave the Croatian agency the score 4.14, while the top score is 5.

The European Medicines Agency is a decentralised agency of the EU located in London. The Agency is responsible for the scientific evaluation of medicines developed by pharmaceutical companies for use in the European Union. It began operating in 1995.
