Coming to his office this morning, Minister Matic declined to address the gathered reporters. He paid his respects to the late veteran Nevenka Topalusic in front of her picture. Topalusic, a 60-year-old war veteran with 100 percent disability, died in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday during the protest outside the ministry.
Matic and his aide Bojan Glavasevic entered the ministry being accompanied by riot police.
Zagreb residents were coming to give support to the protesting veterans during their sit-in on the ministry's premises and the local office of the Red Cross organisation provided them with blankets, food and drink.
On Thursday, they held a commemoration for the deceased Topalusic, which brought several hundred people who lit grave candles at the site. Traffic along Savska Street was disrupted for some time due to a large crowd at the commemoration.
