ZAGREB, May 26
(Hina) - The coalition led by the strongest
opposition party -- the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) -- won 41.51%
of the vote cast by Croatians during the elections for the European
Parliament on Sunday, while the share of the ruling coalition led by
the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was 29.83%, the Sustainable
Development of Croatia (ORaH), led by former SDP official Mirela
Holly, followed with 9.39% and the eight-party coalition Alliance for
Croatia, led by the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Slavonia and
Baranja (HDSSB) was fourth with 6.91% of the votes, according to
returns from 98.72% of polling stations.
