Osijek-Baranja County named 2025 European Wine Region

Author: Roberta Mlinarić

ZAGREB, 18 Feb (Hina) - Croatia's Osijek-Baranja County has been named the European Wine Region for 2025, and this title was officially presented to Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Mato Lukić on Monday by Mario Kordić, mayor of the southern Bosnia and Herzegovina city of Mostar, the holder of the European Wine City title for 2024.

The European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN) has named Osijek-Baranja County the European Wine Region Dionisio for 2025.

"Since the future of our tourism is based on our four wine regions, of which we are particularly proud - Baranja, Erdut, Đakovo, and Feričanci - we are very pleased to carry the title of European Wine Region in 2025," said Lukić.

Lukić added that it was especially important for the county that it was named the most welcoming region in Croatia in 2024 and ranked among the top ten most welcoming regions in the world.

"We help each other when it comes to international projects, and we always need partners and experience from Croatia when working on trilateral projects with Croatia," Mostar Mayor Kordić said.

At the Mostar event, Osijek-Baranja County showcased its wine and culinary specialties, which contributed to it earning the title for 2025.

RECEVIN is a European network of wine cities that has been awarding the titles of European Wine City and European Wine City Dionisio since 2012 to recognise European cities that stand out in supporting and promoting wine culture.
