The agreement was formalised during a bilateral meeting between Plenković, his Liechtenstein counterpart Daniel Risch, and Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“With the Hereditary Prince, I reaffirmed the friendly relations between Croatia and Liechtenstein. Our bilateral agreement on avoiding double taxation, signed today with Prime Minister Risch, will further strengthen our partnership,” Plenković wrote on X following the meeting.
“We will continue working to enhance economic cooperation and trade and encourage more Liechtenstein companies to recognise the business potential in Croatia,” the Prime Minister added.
The Central European principality, with a population of about 40,000, is not a member of the European Union but is part of the European Economic Area and the Schengen Area.
According to 2022 data from the World Bank, Liechtenstein has the second-highest GDP per capita globally, at $186,400. Croatia’s GDP per capita in 2023 was $21,865, according to the World Bank.
