Exhibition of contemporary Korean art "Ghost Dancer" opens in Zagreb

Author: Ivana Tomičić Šušak

ZAGREB, 15 Nov (Hina) - The exhibition "Ghost Dancer," curated by Anca Verona Mihuleţ – Kim, opens on Friday at the Vranyczany Palace of the Croatian Engineering Association.

Presented by the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, the exhibition features works by seven Korean artists exploring the relationship between the body and architecture.

Artists Ayoung Kim, Saem Lee, Seunghyun Moon, Sunmin Park, Tae Kyun Kim (aka LESS), Soyoung Chung, and Suk Kuhn Oh are exhibiting. A discussion with the artists will be held prior to the opening.

These mid-career artists respond to the rapid changes in Korea's urban landscapes brought on by climate change and technological development, while also reflecting on Korea's history of colonisation. They use the body as a medium to convey these transformations.

Anca Verona Mihuleţ, a Romanian art historian and independent curator based in Seoul, has curated projects worldwide. In 2022, she co-curated Andreja Kulunčić’s research project "Vi ste Partiju izdale, onda kad ste joj trebale pomoći" ("You Betrayed the Party When You Were Supposed to Help It") at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka alongside Irena Bekić.

Due to the renovation of the Art Pavilion, the exhibition is hosted at the historic Vranyczany Palace of the Croatian Engineering Association, located in Berislavićeva Street. It will remain open until 15 December.
