Croatian inventors win 11 medals at iENA fair

ZAGREB, 1 Nov (Hina) - Eleven Croatian inventors won medals at the 76th iENA International Trade Fair Ideas - Inventions - New Products, held in Nuremberg on 26-28 October, the Croatian Inventors Association said earlier this week.

Of the 16 Croatian inventions displayed at the fair, four won gold medals, two won silver medals and five won bronze medals.

In the category of young inventors, the "Histrion" invention by Iva Artuković, Theo Dobran and Mladen Šostar of the Technical School and Anton Okmac of the Industrial-Craft School in Pula, with teachers Kristina Lenić and Marin Tumpić as mentors, won the gold medal, and the same team also won the bronze for their invention "Kraken".

A silver medal went to Tin Oršić and Erik Braun and their mentor Ivan Vlainić of the Samobor Association of Technological Culture and Information Technology Teachers for their invention "Multipurpose system for smart irrigation".

In the category of faculties and universities, the gold medal went to Ivan Kožar and his mentor Mario Cifrek of the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing for their headset device using bone conduction technology. The invention also won a special prize of the fair organiser. A silver medal was won by Petar Sušac and his mentor Hrvoje Džapo, also from the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, for their invention "System for diagnosing and monitoring the intensity of stuttering". 

Bronze medals were won by Dorotea Maretić and her mentors Tibor Skala and Marko Maričević of the Zagreb Faculty of Graphic Arts for the invention "AI generated avatars for AI influencers with NLP algorithms", by Danijel Barišić and mentor Sven Lončarić of the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing for the invention "Detection and removal of attacks on deep neural networks", and by Marko Maričević and Tibor Skala of the Zagreb Faculty of Graphic Arts for the invention "3D printed elastic mesh structures".

In the category of individual inventors, the gold medal went to Martin Banko for his thin-film roof solar panels.

In the category of industrial inventions, the gold medal went to the Plastruktor company for its noise barrier invention, while the Egorra company won the bronze for its watertight wooden bathroom furniture.

More than 500 inventions from 30 countries were presented at this year's fair, which was attended by more than 20,000 visitors.
