Author: Hari Alfeo

ZAGREB, 10 Oct (Hina) - The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb celebrated its 40th anniversary on Thursday with a ceremony at which it was said that the Faculty has become extremely important and indispensable in the higher education, scientific, and economic life of Croatia.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Oleg Butković congratulated the staff of the Faculty, saying that cooperation in public policies between state institutions and Croatian science is strong, can serve as an example to others, and that it will be crucial in the future.

"We have great achievements behind us, but there are also big challenges and projects ahead," he said at the ceremony, noting that Croatia can boast significant investments in transport systems, amounting to over €4 billion.

Dean Marko Šoštarić said that over 40 years, the Faculty has educated 10,000 students. These students, along with their professors, have brought new knowledge, enthusiasm, and ideas, shaping not only the Faculty but also the transport profession in Croatia and beyond, he added.

"Our teachers and researchers are involved in developing mobility based on driverless vehicles, improving road traffic safety and traffic management using artificial intelligence, creating the railways of the future, and other communication solutions," said Šoštarić.

The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences in Zagreb employs 209 staff members, including 127 teaching personnel and 86 PhDs. It consists of 13 departments, two institutes, and several independent chairs.
