The show, taking place in Perešin's place of birth every year, this year features Rafale fighter jets, the Croatian Air Force aerobatic display team the Wings of Storm, as well as the Sinus 9A-UGG, Eurostar 9A-UJN, Savannah 9A-DIS and C-172 HZNS aircraft.
Participating in the air show are also members of the Slovenian Air Force.
Numerous delegations laid wreaths and lit candles in memory of Perešin, a Homeland War hero killed in the Croatian army operation "Flash" in May 1995, when his plane was shot down.
The event was opened by Ivica Olujić, envoy for President and Army Commander in Chief Zoran Milanović.
A government delegation was led by War Veterans Minister Tomo Medved, envoy for Prime Minister Andrej Plenković.
"We can learn a lot from Rudi Perešin's life and patriotism and that is why it is important that this event has been held for 27 years," Medved said, stressing that he believed the event would encourage young people to opt for the profession of an Air Force pilot.
"The freedom we have today was not given to us for free, we owe it to Rudolf Perešin and our courageous defenders, we should remember them and pass their patriotism and love for the homeland onto the future generations," Medved said.
Krapina-Zagorje County head Željko Kolar said that for him, every Croatian who in the 1990s took up arms and fought in the Homeland War, "which was imposed on us", was an honourable and great human being, notably those who gave their lives for the homeland, including Perešin, "one of the more special ones".
