Scholarships are intended for postgraduate studies in the fields of science, arts, architecture, medicine, public health, legal sciences and other related disciplines, HAZU said.
"Harvard is the top of the world, no university has yet surpassed it," said HAZU president Velimir Neidhardt, a former recipient of scholarship from the Fund. "Thanks to Baloković, who made an agreement with Harvard and left his capital, every year up to three students from Croatia are nominated by HAZU to study at this prestigious university," he added.
About 150 Croatian students have received this prestigious scholarship to study at Harvard to date.
However, Neidhardt noted the problem of lack of applications from different fields. "The most applications come from legal sciences, while there is less interest from other disciplines," he said, calling on students to apply.
Neidhardt said it is important that scholarship recipients return to Croatia one day and make an impact on the local academic community, returning their intellectual capital to the country.
