The donation arrived in three lorries driven by doctors, motorcyclists and truck drivers. One of them is a retired German heart surgeon, Dr Herman Monzer, who underscored that their association's objective is to help equip hospitals.
"We started the donation program 22 years ago, and this is our 25th transport. Now it's the Bjelovar Hospital's turn, and I hope these donations will be helpful," Dr Monzer said.
The donation included three ultrasound apparatus, an ergometry apparatus, a defibrillator, 40 hospital beds and other medical equipment.
Bjelovar Hospital Director Sanela Grbaš Bratković underlined that the equipment will shorten waiting lists, especially in radiology, and it will contribute towards opening a new palliative care ward.
The Bjelovar Motorcycle Club mediated this donation in cooperation with colleagues from Slavonski Brod. The county head for health, Andrea Bengez, expressed gratitude for the donation and the project, underlining the importance of investing in health care.
