The World Olympians Association hosted its first-ever OLY House Film Festival during the 33rd Olympic Games, showcasing films either made by Olympians or centered around the Olympic Movement. The festival ran from 27 July to August 11.
The award-winning documentary, He Happened, directed by Croatian filmmaker Dejan Aćimović, tells the story of Ratko Rudić, widely regarded as one of the greatest water polo coaches of all time. The film features insights from 125 prominent figures in water polo, who discuss Rudić’s illustrious career, his early challenges as a player, and his remarkable success as a coach, leading three different national teams to numerous gold medals.
As a player, Rudić represented the Yugoslav national team in 297 matches, earning nine medals. His coaching career, spanning 39 years, saw him amass 39 medals, including 16 golds, making him the second most successful team sport coach in history, behind Brazilian volleyball coach Bernardo Rocha de Rezende, who has won 52 medals.
Rudić's achievements were further recognized in 2007 when he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while coaching Croatia’s national water polo team.
