The initiative provides parents and caregivers with a comprehensive step-by-step guide on what to do and what to expect when their child goes missing.
The campaign will kick off simultaneously in 16 countries and 14 languages, spearheaded by ministries of the interior, national police and leading non-profit organisations dedicated to child protection. Each participating country will employ its most important resources and professionals to ensure that their information reaches as many parents and caregivers as possible.
The campaign's name encapsulates its core advice, which is "check" to verify the child's absence, "think" to recall crucial details and assess the situation, and "report" the child missing to the authorities in order to locate it as quickly as possible.
"Every year, 300,000 children go missing in Europe. The ‘Check. Think. Report.’ campaign is a pivotal milestone in our ongoing efforts to safeguard children and support families in times of crisis," said Frank Hoen, Chairman and Founder at Amber Alert Europe.
"By equipping parents with the knowledge and resources they need, we aim to improve response times and enhance the chances of a safe and swift reunion between missing children and their loved ones," he added.
