ZAGREB, 22 April (Hina) - Croatian karateka Ivan Kvesić won the bronze medal in the middleweight category (-84 kg) at the 2024 Karate 1 Premier League in Egypt on Sunday, defeating Algerian Falleh Midouanne 4-2 in the final match.
In the qualification group, Kvesić defeated Montenegrin Nikola Malović 4-0, Japanese Rikite Shimade 3-0, and Spaniard Victor Luque Perez withdrew from the match due to injury.
In the quarterfinal, Kvesić succeeded against Ukrainian Valerii Chobotar 1-0, but faced a semifinal loss against Jordanian representative Mohammad Aljafari 5-0. As a result, Kvesić, the world champion from Madrid six years ago, secured a match for the bronze medal in Cairo.
