The event is a result of the cooperation between Pula, the Danish Embassy, the Historical and Maritime Museum of Istria, the Danish Culture Ministry and the Royal Danish Library.
Denmark can be an example to Croatia in many ways, Pula Mayor Filip Zoričić said, adding that during the two-day event, which comprises the panel, two exhibitions and a film screening, "we will share experiences, strengthen our cooperation and discover what already connects us."
Ambassador Ole Henrik Frijs-Madsen said he was confident the exhibitions and the panel would inspire the residents of Pula.
We wish to convey Denmark's experience with and knowledge about the green transition, although the exhibition also shows many Croatian examples of sustainable energy management, he said.
Croatian and Danish panelists exchanged views on and experiences with the sustainable development of cities and views on how to make Pula, Copenhagen or Aarhus places for living in harmony with nature without sacrificing progress.
Sustainable development is a priority in thinking about the development of modern cities because the idea is not only to make them more sustainable and greener, but also better places for living, while reducing the waste of resources, the panelists said.
The panel was followed by the opening of the "Green Together" exhibition, which shows 49 Croatian and Danish solutions for a better tomorrow and for decarbonising cities and making them smarter, greener and more pleasant for living.
The exhibition is a result of the cooperation between the Danish Foreign Ministry, the State of Green public-private organisation, and the North West Croatia Regional Energy and Climate Agency.
An exhibition about Danish admiral Hans Birch Dahlerup will be opened tomorrow, Mayor Zoričić said.
