Exhibition dedicated to Croatia's maritime heritage opens in Trieste

Author: Roberta Mlinarić

ZAGREB, June 16 (Hina) - On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Croatia's EU membership, an exhibition called "Croatia, homeland of the sea", was opened in Trieste on Thursday.

The event, organised by the Cronaves association from Split under the auspices of the Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, was opened by Croatia's consul-general in Trieste, Nevenka Grdinić, who said that entry to the Schengen and euro areas earlier this year marked Croatia's return to its European family and tradition.

The exhibition features 30 photographs of the sea, islands, shipbuilding, people and vessels in Croatia's coastal communities.

Cronaves secretary Saša Lukić said the exhibition was motivated by the wish to point to the role of wooden vessels in the history of Croatia's coastal communities, their influence in the shaping of Croatia's maritime culture and heritage and the need to organise cultural events dedicated to Croatian traditional vessels.

A part of the Trieste exhibition is dedicated also to modern vessels and sailing boats.

The authors of the exhibition promoting Croatia's maritime heritage are Boško Lučev, Andrina Luić, Dubravka Pajk and Vislav Torre.

The exhibition will be open until 29 June.
