Croatia, Slovenia jointly cleaning Savudrija Bay seabed

Author: Hari Alfeo

ZAGREB, 3 June (Hina) - For the eighth year in a row, Croatian and Slovenian divers have been jointly cleaning the seabed in Savudrija Bay and this year they were joined by children aged 7-17, one of the organisers of the drive, the Plava Promocija agency, said on Saturday.

This weekend, over 50 children from the earthquake-hit Glina area in Croatia, the war-affected Ukraine, and children who won a competition are cleaning the seabed off Savudrija, Croatia.

More than 70 Croatian and Slovenian divers are cleaning the Croatian and Slovenian sides of Savudrija Bay.

The drive connects all generations and neighbouring countries and the goal is to protect the environment, preserve the natural beauty of the Adriatic Sea and raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding the sea, nature and the environment, said the agency's director, Andreja Vedrina.

Firefighters and the Croatian and Slovenian civil protection services are also involved, she added.

The drive, called Cleaning Without Borders Eco Patrol, was organised, among others by Plava Promocija and the Zagreb Holding utility conglomerate, under the auspices of Croatia's ministries of tourism and the economy, the Croatian Civil Protection, and the towns of Umag and Piran.
