The centre is located by the Karlovac Gymnasium, which the great inventor attended and graduated from 150 years ago, which will be commemorated in July.
The construction work on the centre, a project financed mostly with EU funds, started in 2019.
Addressing the opening ceremony, PM Plenković said that the centre offered a combination of museum content, innovation, entrepreneurship and tourism, and that it would enable young people to acquire information about Tesla in an enticing way.
"We are realising the full scope of his innovativeness at the time of the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation," Plenković said.
The centre is run by the Korana Enterprise Zone, whose director Martina Marušić Britvec said that the centre was dedicated not only to Tesla as an inventor and to his inventions, but to him as a man, a child from Smiljan and a Karlovac student.
The centre is equipped with digital interactive technology which enables visitors to explore it on their own, and it also offers useful information for beginner entrepreneurs.
