The founding of the School of Medicine was proposed in parliament in 1917, in the midst of the First World War, it was said at the ceremony, which was also attended by Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković and Science and Education Minister Radovan Fuchs.
Addressing the audience, Jandroković recalled the investments in public health by the former dean of the School of Medicine, Andrija Štampar, under the slogan "Health for Everyone".
As many as 85 medical students received the Dean's Award this year, as well as six students of medical studies in English, five nursing students, and eight student for scientific activity.
Dean Slavko Orešković announced the construction of a student health clinic in the building of the former orthopaedic clinic at Šalata, damaged in the earthquake.
Minister Fuchs said that HRK 525 million had been invested in the reconstruction of the School of Medicine at Šalata.
The traditional Medicine awards were presented at the ceremony, in recognition of promoting the principles of humanity and ethics in the care of the seriously ill.
An award was given to health workers from Sisak-Moslavina County who took part in treating the sick and wounded after the devastating earthquakes.
