This results of the 2022 tourist season have reached the record season in 2019 concerning the physical indicators in the hotel industry, and this makes hoteliers happy, said Ostojić adding that also Croatia is a favorite destination globally.
Ostojić also warned that in 2022, expenses of hotel companies grew at a a faster pace than their revenues. These trends will make our business plans for 2023 more difficult, he added.
He defined five challenges for which hotels should brace in 2023: shortage of the labour force, the issue of tourism-purpose land, protection of the coastal belt, energy and price hikes.
The director of the Croatian National Tourism Board (HTZ), Kristjan Staničić, said that in 2023, positive trends would continue and that Croatia is likely to have a 5% rise in overnight stays as against 2022.
Approximately 104 million overnights have been registered year to date, which is equivalent to 96% of the results in 2019. In 2023, the Croatian tourist trade expects up to 1103 million overnight stays.
