"Black Friday" is the colloquial name for the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which marks the beginning of pre-holiday shopping. This custom, which is characterised by discounts in stores, has spread all over the world, with discounts and promotional sales often extending over a period of more than just one day.
Data from the Tax Administration show that in the past week the number of receipts issued in retail increased by 5% and by 14% in value year on year.
From 21 -27 November this year, 22.9 million receipts were issued with a value of HRK 2.5 billion, while in the period from 22 to 28 November 2021, 21.8 million receipts were issued with a total of HRK 2.2 billion.
These figures surpass those from pre-crisis 2019, when 21.7 million receipts were issued from 25 November to 1 December and amounted to HRK 1.9 billion.
