The Bulgarian delegation, which also included Ambassador Genka Vasileva Georgieva and representatives of the Bulgarian community in Croatia, the Matica Hrvatska cultural organisation, the Croatian Writers Association, the Croatian-Bulgarian Society, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the City of Đakovo and Osijek-Baranja County, were received for talks by Archbishop Đuro Hranić at the Đakovo-Osijek Archdiocese offices.
Msgr. Hranić offered his best wishes to the Bulgarian guests on the occasion of their national holiday, Day of the Bulgarian Enlighteners, and Iotova expressed gratitude for the contribution of Bishop Strossmayer to the national revival of the Bulgarian people. Ambassador Georgieva presented Archbishop Hranić with a posthumous decoration of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry for Bishop Strossmayer for his special contribution to the national revival of the Bulgarian people.
Earlier in the day, the Bulgarian delegation also visited the Josip Juraj Strossmayer Memorial Museum and Vice President Iotova laid a wreath at his grave in the crypt of the Cathedral of St. Peter in Đakovo.
