The project, which will take place from 1 to 8 October, is intended for young people with special needs and those with less access to opportunities. It is financed by the European Union and is being organised by the Maksimir Taekwondo Club together with its partners - Babilon Travel Association from Romania and the Union of the Deaf from Bulgaria.
The emotional and psychological impact that sport and physical activity can have on young people with disabilities is significant for their personal development, the Taekwondo club said, therefore the workshops will present problems faced by young people with disabilities, such as the lack of knowledge about where and how to exercise, fear of falling, lack of energy, dependence on parents, lack of friends, barriers in outdoor spaces and the like.
During eight days of workshops, young people from Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania will share their experiences and try to find joint solutions. Young people with disabilities such as blindness and deafness from Bulgaria and Romania will also participate in the project.
"Young people with special needs from Maksimir Taekwondo Club are very happy to be able to host young people from other European Union countries in Zagreb," the club said underscoring the importance of integrating young people with special needs as the project's most important goal.
