Over the next three days, almost 1,000 participants from Croatia and 15 other states, including Ukraine, will show visitors to the northern Croatian town how people lived, cooked, dressed and had fun in the 15th and 16th centuries.
This year's festival's theme are travelling salesmen.
It has been 750 years since Koprivnica was first mentioned in documents. At that time, salesmen from present-day Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and Italy would come to Koprivnica, making it an important commercial town, said Renato Labazan, director of the Koprivnica Tourist Board.
The festival was opened by Justice and Administration Minister Ivan Malenica, who said the government and the ministries of culture and tourism would always be glad to financially assist such events.
