The project is the only one from Croatia included on the Commission's map of successful nature restoration projects in the EU that was presented together with the proposal.
One of the goals of the proposal is the restoration of dry grasslands and the project has been singled out as a successful example of nature and biodiversity restoration via support for the development of extensive livestock rearing in the karst Dinara Mountains.
The project's objective is to restore grasslands on Dinara to increase the habitat of three targeted bird species.
As part of the project to date, 47.6 hectares of grassland has been restored manually and seven hectares by controlled burning, and a project herd has been formed to maintain the restored grassland, Biom said.
