Exhibition "Franjo Tuđman – the founder of modern Croatia" staged in Zagreb

Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, 17 May (Hina) - An exhibition about the first Croatian President Franjo Tuđman was staged in the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery in Zagreb on Monday on the occasion of the centenary year of his birth.

The exhibition called "Franjo Tuđman – the founder of modern Croatia" was formally opened by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and it will run through 24 May.

The author of the exhibition, Dinko Čutura, who is the head of the Croatian State Archives that has organsied the event, was quoted as saying that "during his entire lifetime and in all his acts, lectures, texts and public appearances, Franjo Tuđman kept in mind and was guided by the idea of Croatian freedom."

"This idea was the first and most important – and it finally came to life – in a free, independent and sovereign state of Croatia. This exhibition testifies to this journey: from a gifted boy, warrior, soldier, scientist, prisoner and statesman, who stood at the forefront of the realization of the centuries-old desire of the Croatian people – the founding of modern Croatia," said Čutura.

The admission to the exhibition is free of charge.
