ZAGREB, 21 March (Hina) - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Monday, on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, that his government was doing its best to ensure equality in society for persons with Down syndrome as well as the best possible health protection and education and employment opportunities.
"It is our obligation to make care for the most vulnerable groups in society a priority! We are doing our best to ensure equality for persons with Down syndrome as well as the best possible health protection and education and employment opportunities," the PM said in a Twitter post.
March 21 (3/21) was selected as the day dedicated to persons with Down syndrome to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
