Author: Snježana Pezer

ZAGREB, 15 March (Hina) - The director of the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, Jasminka Poklečki Stošić, has been decorated by French President Emmanuel Macron with the Ordre national du Mérite for promoting French culture and art beyond the borders of France.

The decoration was awarded on 14 March at a special ceremony in the residency of French Ambassador Gaël Veyssiere and in the presence of Deputy Zagreb Mayor Luka Korlaet, the Art Pavillion reported on Tuesday.

This is great recognition for the director's professional work but also of the pavilion itself which, since Poklečki Stošić took charge of, has collaborated with numerous French museums, some of which are the most important museums in the world.

They include Petit Palais, Paris, Musée d'Orsay in Paris, Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Musee Rodin in Paris, Fondation Marguerite et Aime Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Musée Fabre in Montpellier, Musée Carpentras, in Carpentras, Palais de Compiègne in Compiègne and many more museums and French private galleries.

"Artworks from these museums have been borrowed for exhibitions in the pavilion in Zagreb including exhibitions about works by Joan Miro, Auguste Rodin, Albert Giacometti, Strast Stvaranja (The Passion of Creating), Alexander Calder, Vlaho Bukovac and Alexandre Cabanel", the press release recalled.

During the ceremony, the French Ambassador praised Poklečki Stošić for her commitment to building bridges between France and Croatia in the field of art and culture.
