Minister: New coronavirus numbers falling, but hospitals still under strain

Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, 10 Dec (Hina) - In the last 24 hours, Croatia has registered 3,797 new cases of the infection with coronavirus while the share of positive tests has been 34%, and the new cases fall by 16% compared to a week ago and by 30.5% compared to two weeks ago, Health Minister Vili Beroš said on Friday.

As many as 2,352 COVID-19 patients are receiving hospital treatment, including 321 patients on ventilators, the minister said, explaining that the new cases of the infection have been declining, however the hospitals are still under strain, and most hospitalised patients are unvaccinated.

To date, 65.28% of adult Croatians have been inoculated against this infectious disease.

The authorities have decided that there is no need to introduce new anti-epidemic rules for the time being.

The government today appealed for responsible behaviour and compliance with all the epidemiological rules during the forthcoming holidays.

Believers are advised to avoid high-risk gatherings during Christmas.
