Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, 30 May (Hina) - The COVID-19 pandemic has affected beer consumption in Croatia, and currently 78.6% of citizens drink beer as against 87.3% in 2018, according to the findings of a survey conducted by Ja Trgovac magazine and the Hendal pollster.

The survey was conducted in April on a national representative sample which included respondents aged above 16.

One in ten respondents (10.2%) say they drink beer every day, or twice as many as in 2018 when 5.1% of those polled said that they consumed beer on a daily basis.

A quarter (25.8%) of beer lovers consume this beverage a few times a week, as against 29.9% in 2019.

One in five beer consumers (20.5%) drink it once a week, as against 12% three years ago.

Furthermore, 23.4% of those respondents say they consume beer several times a month, and 8.8% say they do it once a month.

More than three-fifths of beer lovers drink it more frequently at home than in hospitality establishments. Also, 71.9% of consumers say they drink beers from larger breweries more frequently than craft beers.
