The head of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Krunoslav Capak, told a news conference that patients who have recovered from this disease would need only one shot of the two-dose vaccine, as indicated by research and data about the levels of anti-bodies in those who have recovered from this infectious disease.
He also presented the latest figures about the coronavirus outbreak in Croatia, saying that this week there had been 13.5% fewer infections.
In the last 24 hours, of 9,282 tests performed for coronavirus, 2,007 or 21% have returned positive, the Croatian national COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Friday, underscoring that the portion of positive tests today was seven percentage points lower than last Friday.
In the last 24 hours, the COVID-related death toll has increased by 41 to 7,081.
Currently, there are 14,507 active cases, including 2,237 hospitalised patients of whom 253 are placed on ventilators.
The authorities also decided that persons arriving from EU member states and the Schengen zone could have the results of a fast test upon arrival and need not undergo another testing in Croatia.
Persons who have recovered from COVID-19 and have already received at least one shot of the vaccine will be exempt from showing a negative COVID test upon arrival and do not go into quarantine.
Health Minister Vili Beroš said that the cijepise vaccination registration platform is working, adding that 890 vaccination appointments have been scheduled in Zagreb for Monday, and more than 3000 appointments have been scheduled for Tuesday via this platform.
