ZAGREB, 14 April (Hina) - Health Minister Vili Beroš said on Wednesday that the number of new COVID-19 patients continued to grow, and over the past 24 hours, 230 more patients have been admitted to hospitals.

"The percentage of newly infected people among those tested is 28.13%. There are 27,528 people in self-isolation, but almost 72% new patients are not from that category," Beroš said.

This increases the pressure on the hospital system, the occupancy rate of COVID-19 hospital beds is currently 64%, and the occupancy rate of intensive care units is 70%.

To date, 819,990 doses of vaccine have arrived in Croatia, and 605,423 doses or 76.8% of the 788,225 distributed doses have been administered.

Over 190,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered, and no cases of blood clotting disorders in combination with thrombocytopenia have been observed, Beroš said.

Vaccination coverage higher than the average 12.1% has been achieved in the age group of persons aged 60 and over, and it is the highest for persons aged over 80, of whom more than 44% received the first or both doses of the vaccine.

Broken down by regions, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has the highest vaccination coverage for first dose (13.7%), while Sisak-Moslavina County has the highest vaccination coverage for the second dose (5.3%).

A total of 2,393 suspected side-effects of vaccines have been reported to date.
