This is the first reforestation drive this year and the second in an area which burned down in a big wildfire three years ago.
The creator of the project, Scouts Croatia business manager Dan Spicer, said a new group of volunteers was arriving every 20 minutes and that they were working in smaller groups due to epidemiological measures, "wearing masks and keeping a distance."
The drive was organised by Scouts Croatia in cooperation with the Hrvatske Sume forest management company and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service.
Spicer said they were planting oak, cypress and pine.
So far 6,300 volunteers have taken part in the three-year Boranka reforestation drive, with more than 60,000 trees planted across Dalmatia. The drive is financed from sponsorships and donations. while seedlings are provided by Hrvatske Sume.
