Author: Marija Šestan

ZAGREB, Aug 21 (Hina) - City authorities in Split, the second largest city in Croatia, have allocated HRK 4.3 million for newborn babies as part of its demographic revival and social welfare measures, the local authorities informed on Friday.

In the first seven months of this year city authorities allocated 4,303,500 kuna as an allowance for each newborn child.

The City of Split provides an allowance for each newborn child while the amount of the allowance depends on the number of children applicant families or foster parents have.

For each first born the City ensures HRK 2,000, and then HRK 4,000 for a second child. The allowance for a third child and everyone after that is HRK 55,000, which is paid through annual installments for the first ten years of a child's life, the press release said.
