Jankovic said the club was very active in its work and had long deserved adequate premises such as the new ones owned by the town.
We reported the project of refurbishing the premises to the government's office for human and ethnic minority rights and have invested HRK 100,000 in it, he said.
According to the 2011 census, Croatia has a population of 14,000 Hungarians, he added.
"We, of course, think there are many more of us. There are different reasons why people, notably in mixed marriages, no longer declare themselves as Hungarians. However, it's the same with Croats in Hungary. We hope that in the next population census the number of Hungarians in Croatia won't be significantly lower than it is now," said Jankovic.
Mayor Bosancic said Hungarians in Vinkovci were active in the town's life, significantly contributing to its riches and diversity.
The club, its president Rudolf Ac said, has been active since 2012 and has 70 members from the 140 Hungarians living in Vinkovci.
