PM opens newly built Galenski analytical laboratory

Author: Marija Bakula

ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic opened in Dugopolje on Tuesday the newly built Galenski analytical laboratory and the administration building of the Split-Dalmatia County Pharmacies, emphasising that laboratories of that kind could help Croatia in fighting pandemics such as COVID-19.

"This is an excellent example of development and an excellent contribution of the Galenski laboratory in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic in Croatia and the global pandemic... and I am certain that laboratories such as this one can help us in the future when facing such unexpected challenges," Plenkovic said.

The prime minister said that HRK 70 million had been invested to date in building the laboratory and the administration building. He emphasised that his government, by reforming the law on financing local and regional government, had made it possible for the Split-Dalmatia County, its towns and municipalities, to have HRK 365 million, which is a revenue increase of 41% compared to 2017.

Plenkovic also recalled recent measures for helping the Split-Dalmatia County deal with the corona crisis, stating that almost HRK 300 million had been provided to date to more than 12,200 companies from the county's private sector which had applied for the job-saving measure to finance more than 50,000 employees' wages.

The Galenski laboratory has managed to produce around 150 tonnes of antiseptic and disinfectant during this crisis, providing them to all of its partners in Croatia, it was stated in a press release.
