"in the last 24 hours 14 new patients have been diagnosed, which puts the total number of infections at 2,030," Health Minister Vili Beros said at a news conference.

He said that one patient, a resident of a Split nursing home where the disease recently broke out, died on Saturday, and that the total number of fatalities now stands at 55.

Twenty-three people are on ventilators, two more than on Saturday, and the number of recoveries stands at 1,103 - 69 more than on Saturday.

A total of 31,622 samples have been tested, including 709 in the last 24 hours. The percentage of cases positive for the novel coronavirus is 6.42%, Beros said.
