Capak made the statement on Tuesday in response to a query by the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO), whose president Zlatko Matesa said such a request would be made at the time when it was speculated that the Olympic Games in Tokyo would be postponed.
The HOO now supported its request by saying that athletes competing in individual sports could continue with exercises with their coaches, without the presence of spectators.
The head of the HOO's Olympic Programme, Damir Segota, believes that only evident Olympic athletes competing in individual disciplines should be allowed to exercise on their clubs' premises.
In case the general situation with the coronavirus in the country and the rest of the world improves and if current lockdown is eased, athletes from the HOO's first and second categories (athletes with international awards) - and there are 220 such athletes - could be allowed to resume with training as well, he said.
