ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - In Croatia, there have been 21 new cases of the infection with coronavirus in the last few hours, while 16 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals, the COVID-19 crisis management team said at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Since 9 am this morning, there have been 21 new cases, bringing the total number of Croatians infected with the virus to 382," Health Minister Vili Beros told the news conference.

He said that the rise in the number of newly confirmed cases was as expected.

So far, Croatia has tested 3159 samples.

The minister said that the fact that to date 16 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered and discharged from the hospitals made him happy.

Of those 16 patients, 14 were treated in Zagreb's Fran Mihaljevic Hospital for Infectious Diseases and one in Rijeka and Varazdin each.

He also pointed to encouraging news from Italy which has registered a decline in the number of fatalities and the number of newly diagnosed patients for three consecutive days.
