The donation came about through cooperation with TIKA which began during the disastrous floods and landslide that occurred in March 2018 when 11 family homes were destroyed in the town.
On that occasion, TIKA sent aid for those affected and announced that it would send new assistance, which resulted in today's donation.
Fatih Kaya of the Turkish Embassy to Croatia and TIKA's Zagreb office attache Hasim Koc announced that the cooperation would continue with new donations in the form of didactic playground equipment for the Hrvatska Kostajnica kindergarten.
Kostajnica Mayor Dalibor Biscan expressed his gratitude for the donation. He added that during a recent visit of Croatian mayors to Turkey, he presented Kostajnica's example of waste disposal, and that a similar system is now being applied in Turkey. He said that he was grateful that Istanbul had recognised Kostajnica's needs and donated the rescue boat which, he added, will be very useful in flood situations.
