"I will call President Milanovic and announce a sort of inaugural visit so we can start a dialogue because in the end we have to have a dialogue with all institutions if for no other reason then with regard to budget items," Maric told reporters after a meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels.
Asked what his expectations of the new president were, Maric said that just like other public officials, the president needs to care for the betterment of the country and its citizens, in accordance with his constitutional powers.
"He has to work and function in line with that. As in the case with any other newly-appointed official, I wish him a lot of success," said Maric.
Asked about the cost of the inauguration ceremony, which is estimated at about HRK 100,000, which is significantly less than former President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic's inauguration, which amounted to HRK 598,000, Maric said that as far as the budget was concerned, that was not a large amount and that it sent a good message.
