The two most important thematic units are the 30th anniversary of independent Croatia's Parliament and the Croatian presidency of the EU.
The Almanac consists of eight parts: Signs of the Times, Croatian Philological Horizons, Bridges, A History, Spirituality, Heritage, Science, and New Books, which contain 32 articles.
Summaries were translated to English and Spanish, it was stated at the presentation.
The director of the HMI, Mijo Maric, emphasised that the Almanac connected Croatians from four continents and 20 countries, and that it presented the Croatian creative and intellectual output of the 21th century.
He also noted that the Almanac contained announcements of events, some of which were historic, but that all was connected to the lives of Croatian emigrants. The Almanac is also celebrating its 65th anniversary, Maric added.
"The Almanac brings a handful of interesting subjects both from Croatia and from emigrants, at whom it is aimed," said Zeljko Holjevac, the director of the Ivo Pilar Institute for Humanities.
"Actuality, it is about 30 years of Croatia's democracy and, we could say, contemporary state. Emigrants are represented in the Croatian Parliament in a separate quota for the first time in the history of that institution, which dates back to the 13th century," stated Holjevac.
Another subject is Zagreb which, through Croatia's current EU presidency, has become a true capital of most of Europe, he said. "Those two facts condense the last 30 years of Croatian history and the journey it took," concluded Holjevac.
