"Our aim is to stop the violence and to come to some long term diplomatic solution in the Middle East and northern Africa," Grlic Radman said ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers who arrived in Brussels to discuss the latest developments in Iraq, the tense situation in the Middle East and North Africa, and the fallout of Iran's missile attacks on US army bases in retaliation for the killing of Iranian General Soleimani.
NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg and UN special envoy and head of the UN mission in Libya Ghassan Salame are also attending the EU foreign affairs' council.
EU's High Representative Josep Borrell said that he was concerned over the situation in that region.
The situation is very worrisome and I convened this meeting for strategic talks of all EU member states about Iraq, Iran and Libya. We will analyse the situation broadly, Borrell said.
