FM: Bosnia high on Croatia's EU presidency agenda

Author: Marija Šestan;Lana Lončarić

ZAGREB, Jan 3 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman said on Friday in the northern Bosnian town of Odzak that Bosnia and Herzegovina was high on the agenda of Croatia's presidency of the Council of the European Union and announced continued support for Croats in that country.

Croatia assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1.

"We want to help in every way that Croats deserve, which is our constitutional obligation. Bosnia is high on the Croatia's presidency agenda in terms of the fourth priority 'a strong Europe, an influential Europe'," said Grlic Radman in a press release.

He noted that Croatia would organise on May 7 a summit meeting of EU leaders and officials of six Western Balkan countries to renew their European perspective. He especially expressed support for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Of course we are committed to and actively support Bosnia's Euro-Atlantic path on the basis of fulfilled criteria. Bearing in mind that Croatia is a signatory to the Dayton Peace Agreement, which guarantees the equality of all peoples, it is in our interest that Bosnia is functional," the Croatian Foreign Minister explained.

State Secretary of the Central State Office for Croats Abroad Zvonko Milas said that support for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croats there was a continuation of the policies of the Croatian government and President Andrej Plenkovic and President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic.

"Bosnia remains our foreign policy priority, primarily because of the Croats living there. Borders exist, but Croats are indivisible wherever they may live," said Milas.
