The project lasted several months and was conducted by the Croatian and Slovenian state-owned water management companies.
"By upgrading and expanding the 102-metre dam, which is located both on Slovenian and Croatian territory, we will significantly reduce the risk of flooding. We want to give local government units - Podcetrtek and Rogaska Slatina in Slovenia and Hum na Sutli and Zagorska Sela in Croatia - new possibilities for closer cooperation and better economic development," said Zoran Djurokovic of the Hrvatske Vode water management company.
The project, which is part of the Interreg V-A Slovenia-Croatia project, amounts to EUR 2.1 million, of which 1.36 million was secured from the European Regional Development Fund while the rest was secured by the project partners who will continue to manage the upgraded facility together.
