Milka Kosanovic of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HUP), which organised the event, said that the number of employees in the pharmaceutical industry had increased by more than 20% in the last 10 years.
The association of drug producers within the HUP (HUP -UPL) says that its members directly employ over 5,000 workers and this number rises to 10,000 when suppliers are included.
In the past few years, HRK 2.5 billion has been invested in state-of-the-art plants and new technologies.
Association members generate more than HRK 7 billion in revenues annually and of that amount, five billion is generated from exports.
Kosanovic said that the pharmaceutical industry was a forerunner in research and development in Croatia.
Christoph Stoller, the president "Medicines for Europe" association, said that digitisation was a crucial topic for the pharmaceutical industry.
