Applicants are supposed to pass motivation tests in order to be enrolled in semester-long 70-hour courses.
This is the seventh school year that the Institute organises free courses in Chinese, and the number of applicants rises from year to year. The teachers are native speakers, and use English for presenting their lessons.
Currently, about 2,000 people are enrolled in Chinese courses at about 40 locations in cities throughout Croatia: Zagreb, Rijeka, Pula, Split, Dubrovnik, Osijek and Varazdin.
Established in 2012, the Confucius Institute in Zagreb actively participates in the promotion of the Chinese language and culture through numerous programmes designed for primary and secondary schools and the universities.
