The network was established in 2007 and its members are the ten countries through which the Danube flows, from Germany to Romania.
"The member states promote the cultural and natural heritage of the Danube and work on its conservation. Today we have opened the network's office in Kopacki Rit. I think that is a great step because now we can more effectively apply for EU projects and be involved in current events in the European Union," said Vlatko Rozac, the head of the Network of Protected Areas.
On the occasion of the International Day of the Danube, Kopacki Rit is hosting the DanubeArt festival which is taking place at several venues in the Croatian Danube region from June 28 to July 6.
